WEST CHESTER TOWNSHIP, Ohio (June 20, 2023) – More than 160 teams competed June 16-20 at Midwest Presidents Cup in West Chester Township, Ohio. Games were played at the Voice of America MetroPark Athletic Complex with a trip to National Presidents Cup on the line.
USYS’ Midwest Region, which has 13 State Associations, will send 26 teams to the national competition held July 7-11 in Wichita, Kansas. Teams from Illinois had strong showings this past week and will send the most representatives out of the Midwest’s State Associations with 10 — of which 8 finished as champions.
Michigan (4), Kansas (3), Iowa (2), Indiana (2), Wisconsin (2), Missouri (1), Nebraska (1), and Ohio (1) will also field teams in Wichita later this summer.
Barry McShaw, a parent from BSC Raiders (IL) club, talked about what the 2023 Midwest Presidents Cup meant to him and what the experience was like.
“This is the best event that I have ever been a part of,” McShaw said. “It’s the atmosphere, the referees, the teams. I’ve never been part of an experience like this. Normally when you’re at a high-level event, it can get out of control. This event is very calm, very peaceful, very godlike. From the staff to the referees, I’ve never seen such an organized event, overall it’s just amazing and I feel blessed to be here. This is a top notch competitive-level and even if you feel like your club is on the borderline of being able to compete, I would recommend you to come be apart of it. We will definitely continue to come back here!”
